Activities: Join Greenway Network and the St. Charles County greenwaynetworkDepartment of Health to kick off a rather historic feat: marking more than 9,000 storm drains in St. Charles County!
stcharlesDate: Saturday, May 17, 2014
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Place: Sites in every corner of St. Charles County

Why mark storm drains? Because some people don’t know they shouldn’t dump chemicals and household materials down storm drains. So, you know, they dump chemicals basically straight to streams, and that ain’t cool. We’re going to tell them, “that ain’t cool,” with stencils! They can’t ignore! Thousands and thousands of stencils…

What to expect: Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed for this massive effort! Be prepared to drive to sites throughout St. Charles County as well as do some walking or wheeling from drain to drain. Lunch will provided after the event at 215 Indacom Drive in St. Peters, Mo. Adult volunteers will also be registered in the Poage Chevrolet Volunteer with Greenway drawing for a new Chevy Sonic. The raffle will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the Race for the Rivers Festival.

Storm drain marking will continue on the first Saturday of each month through October. You can register online at www.greenwaynetwork.org.

What to bring: Dress for the weather. Wear shoes made for walking.

For more information: Contact Larry Ruff at greenwaynetwork@gmail.com or call (636) 498-0772 to register and arrange site locations.
